As social networking becomes bigger and bigger questions loom on the horizon, which network should you use? A lot of people talk about the difference between Facebook and LinkedIn. There are LinkedIn supporters and then there are Facebook fans. Each has their own reason why they like one or the other. So which one do I think is better? It depends on what you’re looking to do.
First, Facebook does one thing far and above better than any other network. It’s a great place to find out information about like minded people I don’t know talking about subjects that are interesting to me. Facebook is a site for people where you search for and profile like minded people who think like. I love it because all day long I can find people who are interested in books that I read movies that I like. It’s terrific.
LinkedIn, on the other hand, is a tremendous asset for finding other business people. I do not get to check out their personal profiles, instead I get sent to a resume page where I find that I am can work with real business professionals who are looking to do business. That is the key difference between Facebook and LinkedIn. On Facebook some users might be expecting to eventually do business, but on LinkedIn all of the people on there are expecting to work with professionals. You’re not talking about mom and pop shops either, instead we are talking about corporate executives who make six-figure salaries.
So which is better for you? Are you looking for like-minded people or professionals ready to act? Also, it depends upon what business you are in. If you work in the business-to-business arena, you definitely have to go on l LinkedIn at some point. If you work in another arena where it’s more of a personal nature, such as health care clothes, etc you can relay upon Facebook for business. My recommendation is to use both and see which one works best for you.
